A person spends over 80% of his or her life inside buildings, whether at home or at the workplace. The way we subjectively judge whether a room is comfortable or not depends upon our feelings with regard to the room climate. Temperature, humidity as well as air movements are the most important external factors which influence our judgement. They will determine whether we feel uncomfortable or judge the room to be comfortable and pleasant.

Thermal Degree of Comfort

The degree of thermal comfort in a room plays a particularly important role in whether we feel comfortable. This is primarily determined by the air temperature as well as the surface temperature of the elements which define the room: the walls, ceiling, floor and the windows. A comfortable room climate exists when the air and surface temperatures are equal and are between 20-22°C.

The thermal degree of comfort also plays an important role in the amount of energy expended on heating. The temperature that a person perceives is the average of the air temperature and the temperatures of the surfaces which surround him. So the warmer the surfaces of the walls and ceiling are the higher will be the degree of thermal comfort and the consequent potential energy savings.

Thanks to its special combination of binders and fillers which incorporate millions of silicate lightweight fillers (microscopically small hollow glass spheres) Bioni Comfort is able to ensure that the heat in a room and on its surfaces is more evenly distributed. The room climate and the degree of thermal comfort are thus noticeably improved. This is an effect that can actually be felt, as it directly affects the perceived temperature.
